I feel like I owe you an explanation.....

I have never shared anything personal on my blog but I felt you deserve an explanation for where I've been so here it goes. Unfortunately, I was in the hospital for a little while as I suffer from depression and was unable to function. This has been my 2nd hospitalization in the last 2 years and I am still having a hard time dealing. You see I had a wonderful Golden Retriever named Precious who was by my side for 11 years until she was sadly diagnosed with a brain tumor. We knew that one day she would pass away from what is called "cluster seizures" but I was not prepared at all. That horrible day came and I held my beautiful Precious in my arms while she suffered through 18 heart breaking seizures that just wouldn't stop. We finally made it to the hospital and was able to end her suffering by the 19th seizure. That was the worst day of my life. I had to make the decision to let her go in order to end her pain. She died the day before her 11th birthday. My best friend in the world, my beautiful angel was now gone. It has been almost 2 years since her death and I still struggle with the depression and sadness it left behind. Here are some pictures of my little angel and best friend. May she now be happy and healthy in heaven.

While I still miss my little angel dearly through the advice of a friend we decided to honor Precious by adopting a new puppy, Princess Abby. We got Princess Abby on December 4, 2010 at 8 weeks old weighing in at a little over 2 pounds. Princess Abby is a Shichon (Shi-Tzu Bichon mix) and has beautiful green eyes. She has been wonderful in cheering me up and giving me a purpose again. Unfortunately, it has been hard to raise her as it is with all puppies. I have had a difficult time finding the time and energy to keep up with my blog and her at the same time. I hope that as she grows older I will begin to have more and more time to post to my blog as it is one of my joys in life. Princess Abby is now 3 months old and weighs a whopping 5 pounds! She will only grow to about 10 pounds which is what I needed just in case I would one day need to pick her up and rush her to the vet as I could not do alone with my beloved Precious. Princess Abby is very smart and has already learned how to sit, sit pretty, shake and lay down. Here are some pictures of our little Princess.

Thank you for allowing me to tell you my story and thank you for being patient with me. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Your story was especially touching and made me cry, as I sit here and look into the eyes of my beloved 4 yr old golden, named Sienna, who was a rescue 2 years ago. I see the hair around her eyes and snout turning white, showing her age into being a teenager. I fear the same as you, that I won't be able to pick her up to rush her somewhere for an emergency, as I have had 3 back surgeries and can't lift over 10 lbs, and she's 75 lbs! BOTH of your precious angels are beautiful, she is in heaven playing and romping in a huge field, playing tug of war, frollicking with other doggies that had loving owners like you. In time, it will get better, as it's already begun...you're healing. And remember that your blog is IN your life, but your babies ARE your life, so you take as much time with your day-to-day life as you possibly can, as it will be what helps you more, and the rest will just come to you.

Oh, it's always so terrible to lose a dear one. My husband and I lost our pooch four years ago, the day before her 13th birthday. It hurts the heart a lot.
Hugs to you and your new addition.

Hi,
Stopping by from FMBT. I follow and hope you do the same.
It's hard to lose a friend. Especially having to witness her suffering at the end. But for Precious's sake, it is good you were there. You new pup is a real cutie-patootie! I got an adult dog over Christmas. She needed a home and I had one. I'm a critter lover.
I'm leaving everyone a note today. Asking for support.
CSN Stores will give my potty a green makeover BUTT I need votes and then verified thru email.

I'm so sorry for your loss -- that is hard -- they become family. I still miss my T. Tucker the Terrible Tabby that we lost a couple years ago -- he was such a special cat. I'm glad that you have a new companion in your life and I hope that the little one helps. I have dealt with depression for a long time, the last year has been especially hard in that regard. Here's to a better year in 2011 for us both :-)
